Anytime gastric contents come in contact with tooth enamel, there is significant erosion. So much so, that in long term exposure, the enamel of the teeth is completely eroded. As a result, the bite collapses, spaces form and the need for restoration becomes paramount to save remaining structures.
It is imperative that the cause of the disorder is treated and/or cured so erosion of the new restorations does not occur.
